Gail Parker: Restorative Yoga for Ethnic and Race-Based Stress and Trauma

Gail Parker, Ph.D., C-IAYT, is a psychologist, author, and educator. She is the author of Restorative Yoga for Ethnic and Race-Based Stress and Trauma, a book that describes how Restorative Yoga can be used as an effective self-care tool that helps you navigate the stresses and traumas that arise from daily lived experiences associated with race. The book invites everyone, not just those directly impacted, to explore the intersection of yoga, race and ethnicity, and to consider the psychological impact of race-based stress and trauma on the health and well-being of each of us.

She is well known for her pioneering efforts to blend psychology, yoga, and meditation as effective self-care strategies that can enhance emotional balance, and contribute to the overall health and well-being of practitioners. Her broad expertise in behavioral health and wellness includes forty years as a practicing psychotherapist and twenty years as a yoga therapy educator. She is the President of the Black Yoga Teacher’s Alliance Board of Directors.
